Forged in Battle explores the complex and multi-dimensional military career of war veteran, Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Cleola M. Davis as she chronicles disparity, and oppression endured while in military service. Her journey began the day she assumed

company command at the rank of captain in 1989. The story guides readers through the ups and downs of military assignments and the trauma brought about by years of unchecked impunities of racial bias, unrepentant abuse, and discrimination in the Army

award, promotion, and command selection processes.

Forged in Battle is a modern historic depiction of American military service as it adapts to integrate women into one professional officer corps. It offers complex war stories, presenting intense rarely seen human experiences. It is action-packed, thought-provoking, and at times heartbreaking. It is both a soldier’s story, of gallantry, courage, honor, valor and service; and one of fragility of the human mind and spirit. People of various backgrounds and beliefs will empathize and learn from either the humanity or inhumanity diverging as characters maneuver varying locations and circumstances.

Forged in Battle captures the fearlessness of warriors facing and fighting multiple enemies in battles between right and wrong, friendship and enemies, black and white, leadership and cowardice. It is a story of strength, integrity and above all, faith when facing the enemies of justice.
